Limerick select board numbers five.  "The select board members, who perform the municipality’s executive functions by administering, enforcing, and carrying out decisions made by the voters at the town meeting.  Under state law, the board has specific duties relating to town meetings and elections, finances, personnel, streets and highways, public safety, human services, public works, and planning.

State law grants select boards some legislative powers as well even in a pure town meeting-select board form of government. These include enacting ordinances regulating vehicles, public ways, cable television, and the general assistance program."
